On May 26, ITB China 2026 officially opened in grand fashion. The Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province participated extensively in the exhibition through a multidimensional approach featuring strategic partnership signing, dedicated promotional events, and a collective showcase of enterprises. Leading a delegation of 18 culture and tourism enterprises, Hainan comprehensively highlighted the development opportunities and policy dividends of the Hainan Free Trade Port and extended a sincere invitation to global travel trade partners to collaborate.

This marks the first time that Hainan Province has organized an official delegation to participate in ITB China. As one of the Asia-Pacific region’s most influential professional B2B travel trade exhibitions, ITB China serves as a core platform for domestic and international tourism and culture industries to connect, exchange ideas, and expand cooperation. This year’s exhibition expanded once again in scale, covering a total exhibition area of 25,000 square meters. The organizing committee invited key professional buyers from around the world to attend business meetings and networking sessions. More than 900 tourism organizations from 85 countries and regions participated, while over 1,700 invited buyers from China and overseas attended for business negotiations, underscoring the exhibition’s strong industry aggregation.

During the exhibition, the Hainan Global Travel Trade Luncheon Exchange Event was successfully held. Witnessed by global travel trade professionals, industry leaders, and mainstream media representatives, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province and Messe Berlin China officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic cooperation with Messe Berlin China, announcing two landmark initiatives: Hainan has officially become the Official Guest Province for Inbound Tourism at ITB China 2027 and the Official Destination Showcase Partner of CIMX 2026.
Mr. Chen Tiejun, Party Secretary and Director-General of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province, stated that the signing of this strategic cooperation agreement represents a critical step in Hainan’s efforts to deepen engagement with international markets. Leveraging ITB’s mature global network spanning 85 countries and 150 overseas offices, Hainan will establish new international channels for tourism promotion and cooperation, enabling the Free Trade Port’s premium tourism resources, open policy advantages, and broad market opportunities to reach audiences worldwide.


Dedicated Promotion Event Unlocks Inbound Tourism Cooperation Opportunities Across the Full Industry Chain
The Special Promotion of Hainan Tourism Brand was held with great success at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. At the event, six international travel agencies introduced customized inbound tourism itineraries and exclusive partnership programs for visitor exchange, creating streamlined pathways for international travelers visiting Hainan. Four culture and tourism complexes presented distinctive resources in medical wellness, coastal vacations, and sports tourism, unlocking new scenarios for high-end leisure travel. Meanwhile, seven international luxury hotels showcased premium accommodation experiences, large-scale MICE hosting capabilities for events involving thousands of participants, and tailor-made services designed to meet the diverse needs of global travelers seeking upscale leisure and MICE experiences.

For this year’s exhibition, Hainan created a customized themed pavilion and assembled 18 outstanding local culture and tourism enterprises for a collective presentation, delivering a comprehensive display of the province’s full tourism industry chain. From the visitor-source networks of international travel agencies, to the signature offerings of culture and tourism complexes, and the world-class services of high-end hotels, the exhibition comprehensively demonstrated Hainan’s tourism strengths characterized by the most favorable policies, the finest resources, the most comprehensive supporting facilities, and the highest-quality services. Global travel trade partners experienced firsthand, through immersive engagement, the openness, vitality, and potential for cooperation in Hainan Free Trade Port’s culture and tourism industry.
